The recent Costs of Exclusion Report (October 2021) by the Alliance for Affordable Internet (A4AI) shows that Governments are missing out on hundreds of billions of dollars because of the digital gender gap. It estimates the economic impact of women’s digital exclusion and underlines the economic opportunity governments must include women in a fully inclusive digital economy.
The research finds that low and lower-middle income countries have lost an estimated USD $1 trillion in GDP in the last ten years because of barriers preventing women from accessing the internet and participating online.
